HOW TO CHOOSE
How to choose a biometric attendance machine
Fingerprint or face recognition
Fingerprint terminals are the economical choice for offices, shops, schools and clinics where hands are clean and the queue is short. Face recognition is worth the extra cost where fingers are worn, wet, oily or dusty, as in factories, kitchens, construction sites and hospital wards, and where you want a touch-free punch. Every face terminal in our list also accepts fingerprint, card or PIN, so a new joinee or a visitor is never stuck.
How many people per machine
Check the capacity on the card: Mbio G1 holds 1,000 fingerprints, Morx MR110 2,000 fingerprints and 2,000 cards, MSD2K 1,200 faces, BioFace MSD5K 5,000 faces and MSD20K 20,000 faces. For shift changes with hundreds of workers at one gate, add a second machine or choose a fast long-distance face terminal so the queue does not build up.
USB, LAN or Wi-Fi
A pendrive model (BioTime16) suits a single shop where the owner downloads an Excel file once a month. LAN models push punches to Paytime on your computer. Wi-Fi models avoid cable work and suit offices where the HR desk is on another floor or in another branch. Add Minop Cloud when the owner wants to see attendance from anywhere.
Biometric attendance machine for office
Most offices of 10 to 200 people need one terminal at the staff door. Mbio G1 (₹6,490) or its Wi-Fi version (₹7,080) with Paytime gives salary-ready reports; Morx MR110 (₹8,260) adds lock and exit control for the office door. Add Minop Cloud if the owner wants attendance on a phone.
Biometric attendance machine with mobile app
The machine itself has no app; punches reach an app through software. With a Wi-Fi or LAN model and Minop Cloud (₹236 per user per year), owners and HR see attendance on web and Android or iOS apps.
What decides the price of a biometric machine
Price rises with the sensor (fingerprint, face, Aadhaar-certified), the user capacity, Wi-Fi or LAN, battery backup and door control. That is why BearTech's list runs from ₹5,310 for a pendrive fingerprint model to ₹28,910 for a 20,000-face terminal, all inclusive of GST.
Power cuts and battery backup
Models such as Mbio 7S, BioTime5N, Morx MR110 and the MSD1K and MSD2K face terminals have battery backup, so staff can still punch during a short power cut. For access control panels and EM locks, the Mantra Mini UPS (₹2,775.36) keeps the lock and reader alive.
